FAQ

Q: What campaign materials should I have and where do I get them?

A: Every employee should receive a newsprint “charity listing booklet” and a three-part “pledge form”. The Campaign Coordinators may distribute these materials directly to the employees in their departments, or to their Department Captains to assist them.

Q: Can I make a one-time contribution?

A: Yes. One-time donations must be made by check  or credit card (cash cannot be accepted). All payroll deductions must be for your full annual pay period. Checks payable to “UWCC.”

Q: Who is responsible for collecting the pledge forms in each department?

A: Campaign Coordinators and/or Captains distribute a charity listing booklet and pledge form to each employee in their department in the beginning of the campaign. They will also collect completed pledge forms from the employees throughout the campaign, and submit them as they collect them. The campaign officially ends Friday, December 2nd.

Q: What is a federation?

A: A federation is an umbrella group that raises money for a number of different charities, often in a similar field. Working with a federation for the purposes of payroll deduction fundraising is the most cost-effective method the charities have of raising money with minimal administrative expenses.

Q: What are the fundraising fees associated with my gift?

A: As United Way processes all donations, there will be a flat designation fee of 6% to send the gifts on to the specified agencies.

Q: How do I know that my gift(s) get to the right charities?

A: Stewardship and accountability follow right along with the core values of United Way.  Each donor will get a receipt listing each charity and the amount they donated. In addition, we provide multiple reports to each participating federation or charity with a list of donors with each payment. In cases where the employee wishes to remain anonymous, no donor information is provided.

Q: Are contributions tax-deductible?

A: 100% of a contribution is tax deductible, if you itemize. Every charity in the book is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 charity.
